Last week was officially the first day of Autumn. So I thought I’d do a round-up of my 20 favourite fabulous fall recipes (aka my awesome autumn recipes).
20 Fabulous Fall Recipes
I don’t know about you but for me this year has flown by. Being trapped in one place (home on Walton’s Mountain) seems to have created some sort of time warp.
The salads of summer are behind us and we are now into the comfort food that speaks of Autumn/fall and winter to come.
Here are my favourite cozy food recipes to maybe inspire you in the kitchen this autumn.
There’s everything from homemade hooch (of course!) to comforting stews, cosy hug-in-a-mug soups to homemade breads, bakes and desserts.
Pumpkin And Coconut Soup
Well it wouldn’t be fall/autumn without a pumpkin recipe in here. And this pumpkin and coconut soup is perfect for this time of year. It’s rich and creamy and packed with flavour but light and healthy too.
Baked Grapes Bruschetta With Whipped Feta
Grapes (especially deep dark grapes) are autumnal fruits. Serve them baked to bring out all their amazing flavour and sweetness. This is easy food, fast food and real food too.
My Easy Lazy Midweek Lasagne
With no layering and no faffing about this super tasty lasagne can be whipped up any day of the week.
Good old lasagne is comfort food at it’s best for me. What could be better at this time of year.
Plum Jam With Brandy And Walnuts
You can’t get more autumnal than plum jam (and I’ve made a variety of them on this blog). But this plum jam with brandy and walnuts really rocks the fall vibe for me.
Serve this on a cheeseboard and cozy up by the fire with a good glass of red wine in hand and a smile on your face.
Roasted Figs With Honey And Orange
Figs always make me think of autumn. Their rosy red centres and that juicy flesh. Add the tang of orange and sweetness of honey for the perfect super quick and easy fall dessert.
Beef Tagliata With Tomatoes And Olives
Think of Italian sunshine but with all the hearty strength of a good steak. The richness of the roasted juicy tomatoes and plump black olives, this is comfort food at it’s best.
Italian Inspired Mushroom And Tomato Soup
Rich and hearty this Italian inspired mushroom and tomato soup is full of fall flavours but with the added bonus of Italian sunshine flavours too.
Traditional Scottish Treacle Scones
This is still my most popular bake on the blog and quite rightly too. You can’t beat a good scone and these treacle scones are perfect for this time of year.
Double Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Yes, it just has to be brownies. Sweet and gooey and comforting with a big mug of tea or coffee by the fire. These rich and chocolatey brownies pack in the flavour and do carry just a few calories.
Rhubarb And Raisin Relish
Rich and flavourful. This relish is perfect with burgers, steaks and sausages or just doppoped on to a cheeseboard. It has those fall flavours and is so golden and tasty too.
Chorizo And Tomato Risotto
Super quick and easy this rich and flavour packed risotto is a go-to meal for autumn. Just look at those colours. And that punchy choriso taste, yummmmmmmmm
Toffee Apple Jam
Who doesn’t love toffee apples and who doesn’t love jam. Now bring those two favourites together and you get the quintessential jam for autumn. Perfect on toast or scones.
Roasted Aubergine Soup
Hearty and warming and full of flavour. This aubergine/eggplant soup just can’t be beaten on the hug-in-a-mug stakes.
Homemade Pear Liqueur
Another all time favourite on this blog. This pear liqueur is the gold of autumn in a glass. Rich and flavourful and it just slips down a treat on a cold crisp day.
Spiced Apple Scones
What could be more autumnal than warming spices of cinnamon and ginger and sweet juicy apples. Throw them together in a toasty warm scone and you have the perfect tea time treat for fall.
Coffee And Walnut Cake With Cardamom
Coffee cake is always somehow autumnal to me no matter what time of year I make it. I guess it’s just the colour really but thoese warming flavours speak of fall to me too.
Coffee, cardamom and the crunch of walnuts.
Blackberry And Apple Gin
It had to be done. This is still the most popular recipe on my blog and has been for five years. Blackberries and apples are a classic fall combo, add them to gin and you are right in there with a winner every time.
Use frozen blackberries if no fresh ones available.
Scottish Soda Bread
When you need homemade bread but can’t be bothered with all the yeast and raising times etc.
This simple soda bread is where it’s at. Have a chunk of this with a bowl of soup for the perfect autumnal lunch.
Traditional Greek Stifado Beef Stew
Now iu couldn’t miss out on Stifado, it’s my ultimate comfort food and a true Greek classic. Cozy up by a roaring fire with a bowl of this rich beef stew and it’s sheer heaven.
Buerre Noisette/Brown Butter Apple Cake
This just has to be the ultimate cake for autumn. with apples, hazelnuts, plum and apple jam and that nutty brown butter too. this is the sweetest side of my fall favourites.
So there you have it folks, my top 20 of favourite fall recipes to date. There is something there for everyone I guess. Hope you enjoy this cozy season and stay warm and safe my friends wherever youb are.
