Who doesn’t love a nice sweet fruity dessert, especially a frozen one. But what if you are trying to avoid refined sugar. Well this Tutti Frutti Sugar-Free Sorbet is just for you then.

Tutti Fruity Sugar Free Sorbet

Desserts for summer tend to fall straight into the ice-cream and sugar packed creamy things variety.

Yes they are lovely and I do make plenty of those, but sometimes something lighter is called for and my tutti frutti sugar-free sorbet hits the spot perfectly. Sweet, spoonable delight and completely sugar-free too.

Almost Tutti Frutti

I called this dessert Tutti Frutti as that was the name of a mocktail (just called a fruit drink when I was a kid) we would be served when my parents took us to Turnberry Hotel on holiday.

The barman would make us these fruity drinks with little umbrellas and plastic monkeys while our parents quaffed booze. We thought we were so grown up with our ‘cocktails’ which he called a Tutti Frutti. Funny how some things stick in your mind all these years.

The name ‘tutti frutti’ comes from the Italian ‘all/every fruit’ and the classic tutti frutti ice-cream can have everything from dried fruit and candied peel to papaya or citrus. Just fruit really.

Ingredients for tutti frutti sorbet

  • I’ve used bananas, peaches, strawberries and passion fruit in mine.
  • The only other ingredient is fresh mint leaves.

Fruit notes

You need the banana for the bulk and it must be frozen to start with, I also freeze my strawberries before I use them here.

The peach and passion fruit are just straight from the fruit bowl.

No ice-cream maker required

You don’t need an ice-cream maker to create my tutti frutti sugar free sorbet, just a good old fashioned food processor to whizz things up and of course a freezer to chill it in.

The lack of any sweetening agent isn’t noticeable, the punch of the fruit flavours is what hits you with this super healthy dessert.

So sometimes it’s better to ditch the ice-cream and go sorbet style, especially if it’s a sugar-free sorbet like this one.
