Summer breakfasts should taste like summer, out with the cooking and in with the smoothies. This summer berry smoothie tastes like a milkshake but is so very good for you and a great start to the day.
Smoothies are great at any time of year but a summer smoothie is just the thing on a warm morning when you want breakfast to be healthy and maybe sipped whilst sitting outside enjoying the weather.
That of course is a bit of a dream if you happen to live in Scotland.
Summer berries
Summer is all about berries and this summer berry smoothie is just packed with them. Strawberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and even blueberries. Actually use any berries you like whatever you happen to have on hand.
You can use frozen berries if you have them so this summer berry smoothie can be made all year round.
Is this smoothie good for you?
You bet your ass it is! I’ve also added in chia seeds, flax seeds, coconut flakes, vanilla extract, nut butter and plain yogurt and coconut milk.
Sounds like a lot of ingredients, but when you get into making smoothies they are things you’ll have hanging around anyway.
I use homemade almond milk and my own homemade nut butter and even homemade yogurt for this smoothie recipe.
