How To Make Your Own Natural Fabric Softener

Author: Karon Grieve Published : July 2012

There is nothing as fabulous as slipping into bed with freshly laundered sheets, unless of course you are sliding in there with darling Johnny Depp, but I digress…….. Back to the plot, lovely linens are not just the province of shop bought fabric conditioners, far from it. You can make your own fabulous fabric softener that is totally natural and smells divine.

Natural Fabric Softener;

1/2 cup baking soda (Bicarbonate of Soda)

1 tablespoon Arrowroot powder (baking aisl in supermarket)

1 tablespoon corn flour

3 drops of essential oil (lavender, rose or lemon are lovely for linens)

Thoroughly mix all the ingredients in an airtight jar, shake well and leave for at least 24 hours.

Put 2 tablespoons of this powder into an old hanky and tie in a knot. Toss into the washer.

This natural fabric softener will keep your fabrics feeling beautiful, cut odours and leave clothes and linens smelling fabulous.

    If you don’t have a hanky, can you use an old sock?

    This looks wonderful, and I look forward to trying it. Can it be used more than once?
