This completely sugar free spiced plum jam has all the taste of your favourite sweet preserves but with none of the sugar. The sweetness comes only from the plums and vanilla.
Nothing says Autumn more to me than the sight of plums all over the trees and of course in the shops. That Autumnal fruit that gives us the sweetness of summer for a little bit longer.
This completely sugar free spiced plum jam has that summer time flavour with the winter warmth of spices and no sugar either. A win, win situation!
I love plum jam and have made all sorts of it here on the blog;
This recipe for sugar free spiced plum jam is not one to have hanging about for a long time. Because it is sugar free it will only last about a week in the fridge, so enjoy it while you can. The recipe makes two small jars so I’m quite sure you will get through it pretty quickly anyway as it is rather moreish.
Ingredients for this sugar free jam
There are very few ingredients, just plums, a cinnamon stick, star anise and vanilla extract. It is the latter that gives a sweetness that you would assume was sugar.

I got 2 small jars from this recipe. I’m a huge believer in not wasting food so will make jam out of just a few pieces of fruit or berries.
How long will this sugar free jam last?
Because there is no sugar in this jam to act as the preserving agent it will only keep for 2 weeks in the fridge.
Can you freeze sugar free jam?
Yes, simply spoon the jam into freezer proof bags and clearly label and date. I like to place squishy bags of food on a baking tray in the freezer for a couple of hours till completely frozen. Then take out the tray and you can file the packages flat and save lots of space in the freezer.
How to serve sugar free plum jam
Just use this jam as you would any other. Spread it on toast, use as a filling for cakes. I love this sugar free plum jam stirred through my yogurt for breakfast in the morning. Try it as a topping for ice creram too. You can also use this plum jam stirred into stew to add a rich fruitiness.
Or use it when you are making Chinese inspired dishes. Just stir some into a stir fry with soy sauce for loads more flavour and no added sugar!
