Rosemary is a lovely old fashioned herb. It smells of pine forests and freshness. Most people think of rosemary as the herb that goes well with lamb dishes and maybe rather nice on tomatoes, they seldom think of it’s uses outside the kitchen.
One of those uses in rosemary for hair care. Rosemary is a wonderful hair conditioner. Used as a simple rinse after washing it enhances the colour and tones in dark hair but also nourishes and adds softness and shine to any hair type and colour too.
Just take a handful of fresh rosemary and strip off the little needles. Chop roughly (you really just want to release the precious essential oils here so size of cut doesn’t matter) and toss into a heatproof jug. Pour on about 1 litre (make that 2 pints to be generous!) of boiling water and let it sit there and release all the goodness into the water.
Once it has completely cooled you can strain out the plant matter (seriously sensible step this, you SO don’t want to throw all the herbs all over your head) and use the fragrant water as a rinse after shampooing your hair.
So next time you are using this wonderful herb remember that you can use rosemary for hair care as well as in the kitchen.
