Today is a TV day and I’ll be making these Red Hot Love Bites for Valentine’s Day. I’m doing herbs and love potions so came up with this sort of modern day version that mixes the love potion herbs with the candy gift.
Whether you beleive in love potions and aphrodisiacs or not, whether you have someone else to eat these with or not. What the hell they taste fantastic and are fun to make too.
You need 1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary (feelings of love)
1/4 teaspoon ginger powder (aphrodisiac mentioned in Kama Sutra)
1/4 teaspoon chilli powder (Aztecs used in love potions to add fire to romance)
2 drops vanilla essence (lust)
Add in 3 teaspoons of cream cheese. Low fat, high fat, lets not count calories here we are way beyond that now gals!
Icing (confectioners) sugar. Now there is no firm measurement here as you are adding this to make a firm paste. Start with about half a cup and keep adding.
Sugar, cream cheese and herbs in bowl. Add a tiny dab of red food colouring paste to the mix and start beating it in.
Keep going (think of the exercise and burning off those damn calories). You want to keep adding more sugar and beating until you get a good solid paste like a firm dough.
Scatter more icing sugar on your board and roll out the paste to 1/2 cm (1/4 inch) thick.Using heart shape cutter about 3cm or bit bigger than an inch in size, press out your heart shapes. Re-roll the paste to get every last heart out of the mix. Eat the rest, because you can, and boy you’re worth it!
You should get about 10 hearts from this mix, more than enough!
Now the finishing touch. Use those little writing icing kits and write anything you fancy that will fit on the heart. Size is the limiting factor here, maybe use text speak for abreviations! Go as far as you like, go on dare you…..
Serve with a glass of Love Potion which I’ll show you tomorrow.
