How To Make A Grass Head

Author: Karon Grieve Published : October 2010

Especially for you Nan, this is Idgy’s “How to make a Grass head”. You will need;

Grass seed (you’ll only need a handfull not the whole bag!)

Cotton wool

Sock  – this is a baby size sock from a bargain pack

Pens to decorate and any bits and bobs you could stick on

A glass or plastic cup to stand your new friend in

Put a handful (this is Rye Grass) of the grass seed into the sock and push right up to the top

Now take the cotton wool and stuff in as much as you can, but make sure you keep the grass seed to the top of the sock.

Squish it all about to that you get a sausage type shape to your sock.

Go on, get arty, make a smily face for your new pal. You could even cut a face out of a magazine and glue that on instead.

Et voila! One new grasshead person for our growing family on the kitchen shelf. Just dip the top of his head in water every couple of days to keep his ‘scalp’ damp. Very soon you (well your new friend anyway) will be rewarded with a few fine sprigs of bright green ‘hair’ and soon a luxuriant growth of verdant green grass will sprout ready to be cut and styled any way you like.

Go on Nan, try this for the kids at Halloween. At least it is something a bit different to take home after the party.

    Super Cool!! The kids are going to love these! Thanks Karon and Thanks to Idgy, too! On another note…my sister and her friend Paige are going to be in England week after next, the plan was to stay 3 days then go to Paris but with everything going on over there they have decided that they’re going to rent a car and drive through Scotland! I told her she needs to pay you a visit – she’s a total nut-job, full of fun and with a bit of crazy thrown in. When I know her schedule, can I have her email you – she said she’d love to meet you for coffee – I promise it would be worth a few laughs! xo, Nan
