How To Make Chick Weed Salve

Author: Karon Grieve Published : June 2011

What could be better than a fabulous bath oil that soothes the skin, especially sunburned and weather beaten skin that needs a bit of pampering. What could be better than a totally natural oil that costs you next to nothing!

Chickweed grows in hedgerows everywhere, it is a prolific weed and really nothing that special – or so you might think.

You can use the leves in salads as they are very like water cress in taste. And you can make this marvelously simple bath and skin oil.

Stuff a jar full of the chickweed and then pour in sunflower oil. Yes, just sunflower oil, not a fancy expensive oil, just good old fashioned cheapo sunflower oil.

Seal the jar and give it a good shake. Put it in a cupboard for 2 weeks giving it a good shake every day or when you remember.

Strain out the plants and there you have it. A lovely soothing oil for bath and skin. You can put a tablespoon in the bath for softer skin, or use it on a cotton pad to apply to sore sunburned skin after a day outdoors.

Have a cool summer!

Well, who would have thought that those weeds that my dear Dad used to collect to give to his canaries all those years ago would one day be used for beauty……
    Fab idea
