I love pesto, it is the green goddess of sauces, so simple to make and packed full of natural goodness that tastes delicious and feeds your body in a way that few other dishes can do in such a simple format.
Most people think of pesto as that green gloop in a jar on the supermarket shelf. Cries of “Oh that’s just boring old basil sauce, never use the stuff” can be heard when you mention your love of the green stuff. Well I’m here to tell you that pesto is not boring and nor does it have to contain just basil.
Open your eyes and release those taste buds, so many natural goodies can be pressed into service in the name of a darn good pesto. After all the name itself, Pesto, comes from the Latin for ‘to pound’, so really when you think this way you can pound anything you like into your pesto recipes!
Pesto is honest to goodness real food, natural ingredients brought together with the minimum of fuss.
Pesto is fast food.
Pesto is Real Fast Food!
Think outside the basil bunch and embrace all manner of pestos, from herby to veggie, with even weeds getting their chance to shine. Then go a step further and take pesto from the savoury side to the land of fruit and sweetness for a great selection of sweet fruity sauces that use agave nectar/honey instead of the usual oil to bring them together.
The pesto possibilities are endless.
