This cranberry and pomegranate jam is just so perfectly seasonal and just right for the holidays. The sweetness of pomegranate juice marries so well with the tartness of luscious cranberries, what could be better in a jam! And with only 3 ingredients it really is well worth making.

I love this time of year, all those gorgeous red berries and fruits just perfect for preserving. Cranberries are one of my favourites for preserving and over the years I’ve used them in many ways. From my Christmas cranberry gin to the cranberry gin jam I made with the gin soaked cranberries. Then there is my cranberry and orange marmalade and my cranberry and apricot relish. There are more too, I’m a bit fixated with cranberries!

Anyways, this year I decided to mix my cranberries with pomegranate for this delicious cranberry and pomegranate jam recipe.

ingredients; cranberries, sugar and pomegranate juice

Ingredients for cranberry and pomegranate jam

As I’ve said in the title of this recipe there are only 3 ingredients involved in this simple jam recipe;

  • Cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • Pomegranate juice
  • Sugar

That’s it folks, nothing more to worry about.

Cranberries

These lovely red berries come to us from the USA, Chille and Canada where over 58,000 acres of land are devoted to growing these berries.

Now why would you want to grow so many cranberries? Well they are not just tasty and great in sauces, jams and other preserves, cranberries are actually classed as a Super Food because of their health benefits as they are packed with nutrients and antioxidents.

I’m not going to listb all the benefits of cranberries here but if you want to learn more, just check out this Benefits of cranberries article,

The complete list of ingredients and full instructions for making this recipe can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

How to make cranberry and pomegranate jam

Now this really couldn’t be easier. Just start by simmering the cranberries in the pomegranate juice until they are squishy, this will probably take about 20 minutes.

Next, scoop out the cranberries and press them through a metal sieve held over the pot of pomegranate juice.

Now put the cranberry pulp back into the pan and add the sugar. Let this simmer for a few minutes till the sugar has dissolved.

Then raise the temperature to a boil and bubble till you have reached that magic setting point of 105C.

How much jam does this make?

I didn’t use a lot of cranberries (only 400g) so I wasn’t making a lot of my cranberry and pomegranate jam, in fact I got 4 x 200ml jars of jam from this recipe.

Want more? Then simply double up the recipe to suit your requirements.

Please Note – We do not usually do water bath or other canning methods here in the UK. Our preserves keep perfectly well without this.

How long will this jam keep?

Your cranberry and pomegranate jam should keep for up to a year in a cool dark place. Once opened store in the fridge and use within a month.
