Keep Moths Off Jackets And Coats

Author: Karon Grieve Published : June 2011

As I type this the sun is shining and, yes it does look and feel like early June. You certainly couldn’t say that yesterday when we had blustery winds and lashing rain.

Anyway now is the time of year to be putting away your winter woollies and looking out your summer wardrobe for the coming months.

Don’t just throw your jackets and coats into the cupboard or attic and forget tem for the next few months. You might well forget them, but moths might not!

Get jackets and coats dry cleaned (or wash if at all possible) so that they are clean and have as little human smell on them as possible. Dirt and sweat attract moths, so don’t give them any encouragement.

Put a handful of peppercorns in the pockets. Moths hate this  strongly aromatic spice and it is a good deterant.

A few drops of lavender, rosemary, thyme, mint or cedarwood oil on a cotton wool ball threaded on to the coathanger will also help in the battle of the moth.

Go on, moth off!
