Plum Tarte Tatin

A super easy plum tarte tatin recipe that tastes delicious and uses just a few basic store cupboard ingredients.

Equipment

  • 1 22cm tart tin

Ingredients
 

  • 400 g plums about 7 plums
  • puff pastry ready rolled
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Chinese 5 spice blend

Instructions
 

  • preheat oven to 200C
  • Put the baking tin on the hob on a low heat and add the butter, maple syrup and spice powder and stir as butter melts to mix everything together
  • Half the plums and remove the stones/pits
  • Remove the tin from the hob and place the plum in circles inside the tin with the cut side facing upwards
  • Unroll the puff pastry and lay it over the plums tucking in the edges all around.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes till golden on top
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before placing a plate on top and turning the whole thing over so that the tart ends up on the plate with plums on top.

Serve with your favorite vanilla ice cream or crème fraîche or double cream.
Any leftovers can be kept in a box for a few days and reheated before serving
