Homemade Elderflower Vinegar

Elderflower vinegar is super easy to make with only 3 ingredients and perfect for fruit or veggie salads

Ingredients
 

  • 10 heads elderflowers
  • 500 ml white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest 2 strips of orange zest

Instructions
 

  • Remove any dust etc from elderflowers and snip off stems, pare off two slices of orange zest
  • Place the flowers and orange zest in large jar and pour over the vinegar, put on lid and shake well.
    Let this sit on the windowsill for 2 weeks
  • Strain through paper lined sieve and pour into sterilised bottle

Heat Method

  • Put the flowers, orange zest and vinegar in a non reactive pan and heat to simmer for 10 mins then remove from heat and cover and leave overnight before sieving into sterilised bottle as above.

Notes

Your elderflower vinegar will keep for up to a year in a cool cupboard. Once opened store in the fridge and use within a month.
This vinegar is perfect on both veggie and fruit salads.
