Spiced Pear and Chocolate Jam

Spiced pear and chocolate jam the perfect foodie gift for christmas

  • 1 kilo/2lb 4oz ripe pears
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 800 g/1lb 12oz granulated sugar
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g/5 1/2oz 70% dark chocolate


  • Peel and core the pears and chop
  • Mix pears with lemon juice and a splash of water and cook for 5 mins
  • Add sugar, vanilla extract and cinnamon and cook till sugar has dissolved and then simmer for 30 mins
  • Test for set
  • Stir in the chocolate so it melts and combines or swirl
  • Ladle into sterilised jars. Makes 6 x 8 oz jars and keeps for 12 months
