Today is officially World Snow Day and as we have lots and lots of the lovely white stuff just now, I thought I would share some photos I have been taking this weekend.
We’ve had so much fun sledging and having snowball fights. Impromptu parties by roaring fires with shimmering snow views outside the window while we cradle wine glasses and warm up with hearty comfort food brought together at the last minute. It’s all fun, it’s all amazing, it makes winter so worthwhile….
All this snow fell on Friday evening in the space of just a few hours. We now live in Narnia, our own magical winter wonderland. No work, no cars, no reality, just snow days and fun!
Everything takes on a different aspect, the snow is a foot deep and softens the landscape. The commonplace becomes exciting, the dull something new.
This is when Walton’s Mountain is at her very best. Our little hill has its own micro-climate, while the village has roads and cars, we have peace and quiet and a magical stillness. The howling gales and rain of the past two weeks that caused damage and fearfulness have vanished in a swirl of snowflakes and smiles.
Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow…….
What great timing for world snow day!
