It had to happen. We live in a very hilly area and there is a lot of wind (no, no not that sort!) blowing about. One of our neighbours has put up a wind mill thingy on the top of their hill. It stands there in solitary splendour like something that has escaped from Teletubby Land.
There has been much chuntering amoungst the masses (well what masses there are round these parts) about it’s effect on the skyline, the funny humming noise it makes, and really just what the damn thing looks like and isn’t it dreadful that modern technology is infiltrating the countryside like this. There has been more hot air generated by the chattering than has been whipped up by the wind generator.
Actually I like them. They are like calmly waving giants dotted around our hillsides. Okay they are different and some may see them as a blot on the landscape, but I feel they are so much better than dreadful power pilons etc, they are quite majestic in their own pared back and minimalistic way.
They even have a sort of smily face on their centres. A smile as power is created from nature herself. Modern windmills, technology on our doorsteps right here in the middle of nowehere.
Wonder if they will decorate it for Christmas?
