Today I am being naughty and escaping the sofa! I’m off to the BBC to go on Fred’s show to talk about Valentine’s Day and how to Think Outside The Bunch when it comes to sending flowers. I just can’t resist the chance to get away for a wee break and I have promised faithfully that I will only walk the bare minimum and since the BBC are sending a car for me, well come on, how could I refuse!
I’ll be chatting about the Victorian Language Of Flowers and how you can send your scentiments without the ubiquitous and way over priced red roses.
Why not go for gorgeous red tulips which mean ‘Declaration Of Love’, I think they are fabulous, dramatic and have that hope of spring to them. Staying with red why not go for red chrysanthemums which mean ‘I Love You’.
Go herbal with lavender which means ‘Devotion’, you could get a plant that can live in a window box or be transplanted into the garden and how love long lasting.
Or the lovely rosemary which means ‘Devotion’ and is the traditional herb for weddings dating right back throughout history. Give this in a lovely big pot with a red bow, keep it as a houseplant or transplant outside in spring.
Or the humble daffodil which means you hold the person in ‘High Regard’. some others you could try are blue violets which mean ‘Faithfulness’ and pansies that mean ‘Thinking Of You’.
So you see you really can think outside the bunch this Valentines Day!
Wish me luck!
