The Iceman is smiling on the South of England this week. He was up here all last week and only wandered down south yesterday, leaving us with grey damp and rain again.
For us hardy creatures north of the border who are used to these visits from the Iceman life just trundles on as normal and folks just pull on extra clothes and even socks over boots for the really slippery stuff (posty on Monday had this look, not really one for Vogue but what the heck), we don't get a mention on TV, we just get on with it.
Now that the Iceman has decided to pay the 'Deep South' a visit we are bombarded with icy images on TV, dire warnings of treacherous footing, the AA are on standby with the Army, Navy and possibly some Star Wars Storm Troopers too, just in case.
The bookies are quaking at the thought that they might just have to pay out on some of those White Christmas bets.
There is so much talk of snow one would think The Snowman himself had come to life and was striding around London, rubbing his frozen hands with glee.
What we think of as normal wintry weather makes the headlines down south. I must say it is nice though, it adds to the festive feeling just now. What a difference to see real ice on the TV and not just as part of yet another advert for Coca Cola, Marks and Spencers and every other multi national company.
Yes, it is all very Christmassy and a White Christmas would be lovely.
So if you are entertaining the Iceman just now, wrap up warm (remember those socks), get out your camera and take some photos. Enjoy it while you can.
