White, white Christmas. Unbeleivably white here. My childhood dreams come true in this winter wonderland of snow. So beautiful, so crisp, so unreal, so devine.
Red, bright and jolly, cozy warm fire crackling in the stove, decorations, ribbons and shiny paper on presents, holly berries and woolly gloves.
Green, oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree…….. still upright (just) and presiding over the heart of the home. A joy to behold in all its finery, memories on every branch. Joy and smiles in packages underneith.
The parcels opened, the paper awry, toys and clothes, music and games. Idgy's big hopes and dreams come true.
Blue, the clear bright sky above the snow. Blue for my feelings of loss that Mum isn't part of it all. A phonecall to a care home to wish her those 'Merry Christmas' words is not the same as a hug on the big day and sharing of food, joy and memories. No this is different, this is a new memory for my Christmas tree, not one I had wished for.
But all in all my Christmas is a colourful one. It has all the ingredients required; family, friends, food, wine, presents, pudding, laughter, tears, TV, oh and almost forgot, snow…..
I hope yours was good too. Thanks so much for all your good wishes, they are better than any Christmas card.
