Yesterday was a milestone, Idgy's last sports day at our little village primary school. All those years of dressing up races, sack race, egg and spoon, hoop racing et al. I have stood at the sidelines every year and cheered her on. It felt really sad yesterday to think this is the last time.
Sporting achievements never rank high in our little family, so her 1st place in the dressing up race must be celebrated.
The sack race ended up in a bit of a heap. Kids couldn't wait to throw themselves over the line and out of those hot itchy sacks.
Much whooping, cheering and joy as the red team took the trophy for the second year in a row. Idgy is not in the red team, alas the blues are more laid back, less aggressive, okay, okay I am making excuses now, they run slower…
End of the day and the teams leave the playing field, complete with their furry supporters.
As is tradition we headed off for obscenely large icecreams to celebrate and I caught up with Claire and months of chat.
Can't quite believe that this is it, last village sports day for idgy, going to big school soon, away from the protection of the smallness of village life. Out into the bigger world of the larger village/small town just along the road.
It was a bit of a landmark moment.A lump in the throat and a rush of memories.
Life moves on.

Time goes by so fast, Karon. I still have not figured out how. I got kind of sad reading your post as I know it must be difficult for you. Idgy is getting to be quite a beautiful young girl. Don’t you wish we could hold onto time? It goes by in a blink of an eye. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
