Yes those are my feet and yes l do run! Actually Holly and l run 2 miles 3 mornings per week. We started this in May (amid much laughter from anyone who knows me and my total lack of sporting ability) and l have to say l have grown to enjoy it a lot. I may moan (who me!!) while doing it, but l feel rather smug afterwords.
Today was a red letter day for us, we managed a 3 mile run (and all in the pouring rain too), we were thrilled with ourselves and fairly leapt about in the car park where we finished and grabbed our bags to head to the swimming pool for our usual 20 lengths. We trotted over to the pool to discover that it was closed due to the same strike action (council workers) that has closed the schools today. Boy were we down in the dumps. There we were soaked to the skin with (dare l say it) sweat and rain and we were stranded with no hope of a swim far less a shower.
Nevertheless we bounded (well trudged really) back to the car and headed for the coffee shop where we always go for the treat of the day – the most amazingly gorgeous cappocino l have ever tasted. Maybe it is just that we really have to work for this one cup of coffe, but it certainly tastes great. The boss at the coffee shop took pity on us drowned rats and let us change at their place. At least we got to sit down and enjoy our coffee in dry clothes.
At least we broke our record for the running and must have used up almost the same energy as we would have done swimming. It was just one of those things that you are hopping mad about at the time, but we did sit and have a laugh about it over coffee.
Came home and set about filling orders and sewing in HQ. Idgy and friends enjoyed an unexpected day off school.
Back to normal tomorrow l hope.
