Firstly let me say a HUGE thank you for all your lovely comments and good wishes yesterday. You are the rocks that I hold to, strength unseen, helping hands and open hearts and minds.
A cheer up mission was on the cards for yesterday. Escape route to smiles and laughter. So we girlie's (Idgy and me) went to the cinema (what twice in one weekend, the decadence of it all!). This was a cleverly timed mission, for there was only one window of opportunity when 'Furry Vengeance' would be on at exactly the same time as 'Sex and the City 2'.
I loved it, Sex and the city 2 was just what I needed to escape reality and head for the sunshine and sand dunes. Romance, comedy, high farce, fabulous clothes, moments of thought, sheer silliness, oh and sunshine, did I mention sunshine? That one always perks me up.
The characters were unchanged and unrepentant. They all had there usual foibles and quirks, and of course in true Hollywood style, they all 'discovered something about themselves'.
On the huge screen the ladies were stunning of course, but you know what, they all had flaws, none were perfect. Isn't that so refreshing? Even with the fanciest clothes in the world, stylists, hair and make-up, you could still see their age, see those imperfections that make them real. SJP's hands were devoid of varnish, had veins and looked like everyone else's. So many films have stand ins for every part of the artist, hiding their reality and fooling us mere mortals into thinking that one person has it all, perfection personified. Not so this one.
There were only 5 of us in the cinema and we all bagged those priority seats and slurped our cappuccinos and espressos. Almost a private screening.
Idgy had more people in her cinema (the next room in the building) and thoroughly enjoyed her film. Of course the fact that there are ferrets in it always helps. She is now trying to train Harry to do more than eat, drink, sleep and foot bite. Something charming would be nice, but we haven't found anything yet.
Todays moral ; When you feel like you are sinking, haul out before the vortex pulls you right in, run like hell and do something that fills your eyes, ears and mind. Live in another world just for a short while, give yourself a break.
I thoroughly enjoyed my wee visit to Abu Dabi and New York yesterday, and I didn't even have to pack.
