The panto season will soon be upon us. Well here at the village of Dunlop it is well and truly with us. The village are putting on Alladin this year and for the first time Idgy has decided she would like to be part of it all.
Like almost every other child in the village she auditioned last month. We received the schedule of rehearsals the other day. She started on Sunday and now has 3 rehearsals per week up until the big event. Week night rehearsals finish at 10pm, bad news, this is serious p.j. time for me. Am now having to have to change wardrobe practices and not be in my pj's in the evening. It may not be the most glam outfit in the world, but it has to be said, that there is nothing more comfy and cozy than being snuggled up by the fire in your pj's on a winters evening. It sort of goes with the sewing and cat on lap etc.
Anyway I just knew what was coming when l popped in to collect her last night and saw large village worthy hoving into view. 'Your Mummy sews doesn't she', was her battle cry as she leaned down to Idgy in a friendly way. Oh god, like l have time to sew costumes for a panto just now, l have a better chance of hang-gliding off everest at the moment than l have of finding extra hours to sew anything else. But guess what, there l was (on one leg of course) gibbering that l might just manage to run up something to help out.
Idgy is a dancing sprite by the way. Apparently these sprites come in between each act or whatever and dance around to Mamma Mia, Kung Fu fighting etc. It is all too much for me, l shall retire to the dreaded carrots again……………
