Autumn is definately here. Walking along the lane you find all sorts of seasonal goodies.
There is one little patch of fungi that pops up every year. I always make a special trip out to see these, they take me right back to when Idgy was a little girl and we first spotted them.
Instantly they were fairy houses to be studied, drawn and lived in within the mind. For years we would amble down the lane at just the same time of year to check out the 'houses'. Were they there?
Yes, every year without fail. Some years better than others, but that is only our humble human opinion, they are nature's perfection.
When I saw these the other day I saw a little girl in a pink jacket. She was wearing welly boots with dinosaurs on them (she's always been a gal with style) and she was so excited.
That same day I drove up the lane again, this time Idgy was with me in the car. "Stop, Mum, look!", "Stop, we have to see the toadstools, they're there, check for fairies" – Who needs a pink coat and dinosaur wellies, even big girls remember fairies.
