There was a night market in St Sever the weekend before I left. Although I had been to lots of 'normal' markets while in France, I had never attended one at night.
Wow, I had really been missing out on something special. The night market was an event, not merely a shopping experience. The colours, the lights, the music, the vitality, all wound up together to create a delight for all the senses.
These guys on stilts are showing what the old Landes shepherds looked like. The Lande region was all marshy so the farmers used stilts to walk their land. These guys wearing traditional dress actually performed dances in the street, it was amazing.
Colourful pottery all ready to inspire the most timid of cooks. Who couldn't create something wonderful with pots like these.
Artisan cheeses, take a deep breath and inhale that fragrance.
Crowds filling the bars and cafes, friends chatting, tables spilling into the street.
All the shops opened for the late night shopping and adding extra display tables on to the pavement. Come and try, come and buy.
Idgy's favourrite, the candy stall. Sweets galore, look at those colours, think of the calories!
Music of all types and styles. Something for everyone.
Oh, almost forgot, macarons!
Bit different from late night shopping at the local Tescos.
Have a great weekend guys.
