It has to be said, l am just not good with this computer thingy. Okay I am fine for emails, doing my site and getting my head round my blog (and that took me a while), but set me in front of the laptop and tell me to get going with too much techno stuff and l retreat into the land of panic.
This week l have been trying to put together a simple flyer/brochure and a postcard to send out to my non online clients. You would think this was a simple enough task, well maybe not. It took 2 days just to get the silly photos to appear where l wanted them, over a week to get a book on photoshop and then find l couldn’t use the damn thing, and then work out how to do it on Office. I am quite sure that the average 12 year old would have sailed thru, but this forty-something staggered around like a maddened bull getting more and more confused.
Finally got things done and heaved a huge sigh of releif and headed for the wine bottle. Sent email and copy of the much sweated over flyer and card to online printing co. They very kindly emailed me back right away to ask if l could possibly add 2mm bleed, change to pdf (or something equally wierd) and change the resolution. Well that was it, stress levels hit the roof, blood pressure rose and terror gripped my heart. I could cope with the resolution bit (have done the old 300 dpi stuff before) but got in a flap over the rest.
After a calming sip or two (who am l kidding here!) l went in and did battle. Well it took me another evening to work it all out, but hey, l did it. So pleased with myself. The irony of this story is that one of those products/photos that l was so diligently trying to get on to the flyer was of my new stress ball that is filled with my new Stressless blend of herbs. This includes lavender, rosemary, chamomile etc. Smells wonderful and does have calming effect if you can resist the temptation to throw the thing at whatever is stressing you out.
The outcome of the story is that the print company have now emailed to say that my latest attempts at flyer making have been successful (at least they got past their techno team) and it has now gone into production. Shall be waiting with baited breath to receive them next week.
At the top of this post is a pic of the postcard. Have to say l am pretty pleased with it. Just hope the finished one is ok as l have 2500 of the things arriving!
Off to throw the stress ball about a bit.
