I love crisp cold weather, far, far better than the usual wind and rain, but boy is it cold just now! I went for my first run of the year yesterday and had to give up after only half a mile. The lane was just a sheet of black ice. Had visions of me falling flat on my face and lying in a pathetic heap at the side of the road. Obviuosly this being a poor phone reception area l would have no contact with outside world. There l would be freezing into a solid lump and getting covered in ice till l disapear completely and am then defrosted in Spring. hhmmmmmmm getting carried away as ever.
Instead I lugged in the sewing machines and cleared the diningroom to set it up as my temporary (boy do l hope so) studio until the HQ problems are sorted out. This being a really old cottage you walk right into the diningroom, so it is our entrance hall as well as a room. I always have it rather cozy and welcoming, but l have to say that with the work stuff it looks rather log cabin cute as well. Total white-out outside helps with the illusion. Must resist temptation to be warming up pots of hot chocolate on the stove and toasting muffins etc. Must keep sense of proportion and balance, this is meant to be a work area and not a stage set for 'cozy cottage lifestyle that is totally unrealistic and unworkable'. Oh but it is tempting to snuggle up my the stove and make plans instead of actually doing anything.
Keep warm wherever you are.
