A sunny garden, pots of flowers with petals and colours, scents and prettiness all spilling into one another. Trees with leaves in colours of gold green, the almost about to turn colour that besets Autumn and the changes in the land.
For now shadows on stone, dappled sunlight through leaves, enough warmth to sit and admire, relax and renew.
A magical little window, shutter closed but with tantalizing cutouts like miniature storybook trees. Look ever so carefully through the holes, listen with ears atuned to little voices and magical things…….
"More rosemary, some cinnamon, hurry, where are the cloves?"
"Peppermint for the candy canes, oh the colour must be just right"
Busy little hands, eyes cast down in concentration, fingers flying over fabrics and sewing. Hands gripping the wooden spoons and stirring the pots of candy sweetness. Sparkly tinsel made from hand gathered stars. See how it is strung up to dry in the spice scented air.
Busy, busy, busy. All is activity. What is happening behind that little closed window? Aha, a workshop of elves preparing for Christmas. Tucked away in every corner of our everyday world, look for little windows, little doors. The elves are hard at work behind them. They work the magic of Christmas for us to enjoy.
Hmmmmmmm, I'm a bit frugal in the elf department. Really must get a move on with making Christmas ornaments to sell at fairs this Christmas. Half way through September and not a thing done. Ideas on paper and in my head, must get them out there into the land of reality and fabric, pins, paper and glue. Must stop sitting in coffee shop garden letting imagination run away with me as I look at next door's window frame. Set off home and head for HQ, yes I will get a move on with Christmas, now where did I put that elf?
