My gorgeous girl is 18 years old today, Happy Birthday Idgy, I love you!
Words kind of fail you on these big important days. Not the days that are all-important on a world-wide scale, but the really important ones. The ones that are those special days to you personally, your days, your history, your life.
Today is one such day. My darling daughter Idgy (Imogen) is eighteen years old. I can’t quite believe it myself, there I was all those years ago swearing at the doctors and accusing them of treating me like Sooty (for those not in the know, Sooty was a glove puppet on TV back in the sixties, and from that you will get an idea of what was happening to make yours truly feel like said glove puppet!) with all the hellish examinations and just wanting this whole thing over with. Whipped in for an emergency C-section I was delivered of one cute little pink bundle that I didn’t have a clue how to deal with.
Eighteen years on and she is still cute but in a different way and I still don’t know what to do with her but I love her to bits.
She officially left school last week and I took that pic above of her in her uniform at the garden gate. I took the same pic the day she started at the village primary oh so long ago. Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun.
Dedicated readers will know Idgy from all the photos and posts I used to share before this all turned into a food blog. Back when it was just my chatty place and the goings on here on Walton’s Mountain were just there on the page almost every morning. Poor Idgy ended up sick and tired of having her pix on the pages and having her friends google her and see all these images linking back here.
I love rereading those posts and seeing those photos, snapshots in time, moments captured forever.
Today has been one of joy and a few tears. A milestone, my wee girl all grown up, soon to be off to art school and the big wide world. I hope and pray I have done enough, prepared her for life ahead and provided a few laughs, fun and lots and lots of love along the way.
So there is no recipe this week. Today the blog is devoted to one person, the most important person in the world to me,Idgy.
Happy Birthday my darling, may all your hopes and dreams come true and may you travel through life filled with contentment, health and happiness.
I love you.
