I don't know what to say, it was a hellish day yesterday, dear little Martha was knocked over on the lane outside and killed. There, no other way to say it really. She had burrowed out under the yard fence and must have been running about on the road. I don't know what happened, l just went searching for her late morning when she wasn't around for coffee time snack.
My poor little friend, she had been through so much with the leg op in the summer, yet she had such a merry nature, bright and sunny with no nasty side to her at all. The house was so very silent last night, the other animals were all very subdued too. What on earth am l going to say to Idgy when she gets home.

Something did lift me from my tears in the afternoon. A little box arrived from America and inside was such kindness and friendship. I had expected some patterns to come from Nan in USA, what l hadn't expected was a wonderful old book that brought a smile even yesterday. So unexpected, so very thoughtful, so much appreciated, and just so damn needed just now. Nan, l thank you with all my heart, you added a dash of sunshine to a hellish day.
I will sign off this morning, and just say one thing, miss you Martha……………
