Saturday morning here was simply glorious, bright blue sky, crisp and fresh and the autumn colours fairly sang out. As l bounded round the lanes on my morning run l couldn't resist stopping (come on, any excuse will do!) to take some pix of the amazing gold all around me.
From these enormous towering golden beauties above, to the humble fallen gold in the puddles. Wherever l looked Autumn was showing off her wares…………
After all this nature loving l thought l would spend the day bagging up the Cozy Cones pot pourri. So l knuckled down to a day of Christmas scents and a floor full of pine cones, spices and dried oranges.
It is while l am kneeling on the floor in my world of festive fragrance that l hear the cows. Now l often hear cows round here, they are usually in the next field and 'chat' to each other now and then. No, this was loud mooing and coming from somewhere very close. I popped my head up to the window to see what was up and discovered that they were indeed close, very, very close in fact. In the bloody garden. Leapt out of HQ in horror and the gang of 6 reprobates (their pals where on other side of fence about to come in and join them) fairly leapt about in horror themselves. All this leaping about has done nothing whatsoever for the lawn. Got them back over the trashed fence and spent a panicky half hour driving around the neighbouring farmers to find out which one had rented that field from the long absent owners. Eventually get farmer and son up and they as ever show complete lack of interest or concern for anybody else and their property damaged by their damn cows. 'Thats an insurance job' quoth he, yes l agreed, l shall be claiming off yours. Boy did that get them to fix the fence double quick and clear up the garden as best they could. Thanfully the horrible creatures (funny how you can go off something so quickly) hadn't got around to muching the herbs etc, it was just the lawn they were concentrating on. All l can say is thank goodness l was in HQ at the time, had l been out the whole place would have been ruined.
So that was Saturday. Yesterday Idgy came home and l was so thrilled to see her. They had suffered lots of delays on their journey so she was a tad tired. This is how she spent her first day back.
Berti has no excuse of long journey (or any sort of activity for that matter) for his sleepy outlook, this is just his usual look and he is always ready to take advantage of anyone in horizontal position (they are obviously in need of a cat to cuddle).
Today is Monday and school goes back tomorrow. The wind is howling and the rain is pouring down, guess l had better get all her washing done………….
