At last, fairs over with, done and dusted, Christmas is now properly on the way, complete with snow, whoopeee!
The fair over the weekend at the Royal Concert halls in Glasgow was a total and complete disaster. Worst fair I have ever done. The good part was that it wasn't just me having a bad time, everyone was. This has to be the most poorly organized event I have attended, worst layout of stalls, a total let down. For the biggest shopping weekend of the year, in a great city centre location, we just didn't get the people through the doors. It was meant to run from 10-5 on the Saturday and Sunday, but 50% of the stands had packed up and gone by lunch time on Sunday. A bit of a walk-out really.
So, so disappointing. All the work, all the effort, all in vain. There was a bit of a Dunkirk spirit amongst the stall holders on my row. We were taking it in turns to do the coffee run, do the bin run (come on, things were bad, even trotting to the bin with the empty cups was exciting), entertaining each other with chat, jokes and of course moaning.
Sometimes you just have to chalk one up to experience, just such a shame it all fell on such a special time. I would dearly have loved to spend yesterday with Idgy playing in the snow, taking photos, watching movies by the fire, eating mince pies etc. Instead I spent the weekend stressed out, standing around wasting time, wasting all the money it cost for the stand, ho hum, you live and learn………………….
So onwards and hopefully upwards to bigger and better things. first things first, today is the school nativity in the village hall. Idgy is singing, and as this is her last year in the village school it all takes on even more meaning.
Off to unload the car and become Mum again, can't wait.
