My name is Harry and I am a ferret. I am writing here today because I am furious that She (she who writes this stuff every day) did not even mention yesterday that 5th May was National Ferret Day. How could she do this to me, how could she forget her furry friend in such a bold and uncaring way. Anyway I am getting my own back by kidnapping her blog for the day. Aha I am in charge, Ferrets Rule!!!
I am well aware that She has written about me many times. Usually when bleating on about me being ill, or moaning about some minor disaster that she feels I have been responsible for. Honestly we ferrets get a really bad press, so unfair.
This is my official 'Baby Picture', wasn't I a cute little guy, and so very petit. This photo was taken almost four years ago, yes readers, I will be the Big 4 this summer.
I'm a fashionable kinda guy. Gok Wan would say that shape wise I have a long (ok very l o n g) body, and shortish (yes, yes, very short) legs. This does make shopping difficult and I am forced on occasions to wear knitwear made for small Teddy Bears. This is ridiculous, I should have my own wardrobe, outfits, accessories. Does nobody care about me!
I have hobbies just like anyone else. Just because I am small of stature and furry of body, don't think I don't enjoy a variety of pastimes. I enjoy DIY in the home, as you can see, this home is particularly suited to my size. I enjoy rushing about in this house and rearranging things. The Small Owner (Idgy) does get a little antsy about this. Come on, nobody complains when Colin and Justin do a makeover, I just have my own style.
Travel, I do enjoy a bit of a jaunt. No, no, going to the vet's is not an outing. I like to get out in the garden (I so enjoy a bit of digging) but this has been much curtailed after my unfortunate walkabout in 2007 when I 'Just popped out' and didn't return (get found and caught) for 5 months. Come on, how am I supposed to know what day it is, that is your human hang up, not mine.
I'm a bit of a romantic and enjoy the odd cuddle and snuggle. It is all a vicious rumour that we ferrets are wild, unfriendly guys. ln the words of the immortal Michael Jackson, "I'm a lover not a fighter".
My most favourite thing in the world tho' is sleeping. I am an expert on this subject. Relaxation is big in my book. Really don't understand why you humans only aim for 8 hours sleep per day, you are missing a trick, I like to get a good 18 hours minimum to keep me in peak condition. Think how much money you would save on food, heating and electricity if you humans adopted these tactics.
Ooops, best away, that's Her coming in now hobbling on her crutches and about to hog the sofa for the day. She may have forgotten National Ferret Day yesterday, but at least she is a good snuggle partner on the sofa.
