First I give you a sneak peek at my brand new totally exciting study. At long last I have a door to hang my ‘do not disturb’ sign that I bought in France 2 years ago.
The only keeper in the room was my antique French lace curtain hanging on the wall. These shelves were used years ago in HQ and have been languishing in the feed shed for years. They just took a good scrub and two coats of white paint to bring them back to life again.
Sue was a total star and met me at IKEA to pick up a couple of cheapo desks. That is the drawback of a natty sports car, you just ain’t gettin’ no desks in that baby!
Anyway this is the mess of yours truly trying to work out panel A and B and all through the alphabet.
The screwdriver bit me, the scissors slipped and took a chunk out of my hand and that was just opening the instructions.
Book shelves soon fill up with bits and pieces, my old chair from the diningroom finally finds a place that it looks just right in. Beside the window is the dressing table from when this was the spare bedroom. I just pulled the mirror off the top and it is now a set of file drawers.
Treasured old books mixed with that modern savour the dictionary and the thesaurus.
The hub of the room, my desk (or should I say 2 desks!). This is just so wonderful having my own space, and it’s all so light and bright.
So here it is, ta-da! The finished room. I even went completely mad and recovered my desk chair in some vintage fabric I have been hoarding for over a decade.
That’s Minou’s little basket on the floor by the door, so she’s happy to be included. The old fishing baskets beside the arm chair act both as a table for coffee and books and also as file boxes.
It all looks pretty organised just now, but give me a few weeks and it’ll get the true Lived In look.
Anyway I am happy, no joyous at my new domain.
Now thinking of repainting the living room – woah there Karon, steady there……
