It's the school holidays here. I've never been good at these times. I'm always flooded with guilt at not coming up with interesting and fun things to do, and irritation at not getting the things done that I want to do. Oh yes, the 'I'm crap at motherhood' card looms large with me whenever the school bell announces the end of another term.
We've been out for coffee with friends and Idgy has been enjoying her first ventures into playing with babies. She has always been great with younger kids, but this is all new to be playing with a little person who can't actually walk and talk yet.She is better at it than I ever was.
The mad weasel has been pressed into service and his show jumping potential explored yet again. He isn't keen but willing to throw himself over any obstacle if there is a slice of ham involved. At times the living room looks like a mini army assault course with piles of books, rolls of paper towels, cereal boxes and magazines all masquerading as jumps of one sort or another. Note unconscious bored ferret in photo, has he had enough? You betcha!
There has been shopping, oh yes, my girl is getting taller by the day and trousers just seem to creep from floor level to half way up the calf within a matter of weeks. Can she really be growing this fast. And feet, oh don't get me on to the shoe saga, we seem to be trekking from one shop to the next to get things that fit, that suit, that do not fall into the odious trap of seriously gross mum'.
Today we are going to Rio (oh I wish, I wish!!!) to see a manic blue macaw entertaining us with his magic on screen. There will be a junk food fest and a good gossip afterwords. There is something about a cinema treat that just works for us, we do cinema well us girlies.
have a great weekend.
