My run yesterday was made far more palitable by some lovely viewing whilst having my mid run coffee stop at Wendys' place. She had recorded the fabulous 'Breakfast At Tiffanys' last week and we just had to watch it. Outside you couldn't see your hand in front of you for the thick misty fog and it was chilly and nasty, inside we had the fire on and were in New York.
They really don't make movie stars like that any more do they. Audry Hepburn was so amazingly beautiful and George Peppard was of the old school of seriously good looking in every way. Real movie star looks. A little escape from reality on a nasty wet day.
The day went on in the jewellery theme. From admiring that stunning pearl necklace in the film, l was then rooting through the junk jewels basket in HQ (l keep every type of bead, necklace, broken brooch anything l find in charity shops and the like) looking for pearl beads to sew on my Christmas stockings, when l stumbled on old pearl (fake of course!) 3 strand necklace l must have picked up years ago. Huge 'pearls' in graduating rows, totally unreal, but so suited to the film of the morning. I quickly pulled it out and saw that it would only need some fastening at the back to be wearable. Well guess who has a glamour look for Christmas this year, maybe not quite Audry Hepburn but what the heck . The stockings meanwhile are making so with far smaller and more discreet pearls.
Still on jewellery, driving a neighbour out to collect their car this afternoon meant that l found myself in town so nipped into a shop l haven't been in for months. Tried on a jersey and guess what, lost my watch that l have had for 26 years. Must have come off when l tried on the jersey and by the time l had realised and rushed back to the shop, it had well and truly gone. The sentimental value is huge, and that is something that can never be replaced. I know l shouldn't feel so upset on a material thing but it just feels like one more bloody straw on this laden camels back just now.
I should never have left the sewing machine……..
