I love sardines, both those from a tin (can’t beat them on toast) to fresh sardines. I really developed a taste for those when I worked in The Algarve a good few years ago. These sardines with beetroot and blueberry salsa are just my thing.

I’m still using up the raspberries in the garden and making full use of the herbs that are over flowing the garden. None more so than the mint of course which is everywhere. This raspberry mint jelly uses both the great effect, easy to make and super to taste.
I love chilled soups in summer and this classic Borscht is one of my all-time favourites. I love using beetroot in everything from salads to chutneys so a classic soup recipe just has to be shared.
Don’t you love blackcurrants, those little black jewels, so bitter sweet, perfect for jams and chutneys, pie fillings and for sorbets too, this blackcurrant sorbet is a delight, the perfect end to any supper party, a grown-up treat.
