Time flies doesn’t it.
You always think there is so much of the damn stuff. When we are young we think it will go on forever. Events in front of us seem so tantalisingly far away, always out of reach. There is a decent length of time between one Christmas and the next.
Roll on the years and suddenly time learns to walk and then it runs and then, oh boy it sprouts wings and flies…… One year runs into another and you feel old, so old.
Time hit me in the face this past weekend when Idgy hosted a sleepover for four of her friends so they could all go to Comic Con in Glasgow on the Saturday. There was my teenager looking great, relaxed and comfortable with her good friends. There she was talking comic book heroes, fab actors, boys and fashion. There she was almost a grown-up. Where did all those years go?
These past few weeks I have been in and out of the blog archives reloading photos, fixing links etc. It has carried me back reading old posts. All my history really of the last five years. How Idgy has grown in that time, so much has happened and so much has not.
I have found myself awash sometimes looking at images and reading my words. The past can make the eyes sting and the lips tremble. But it can also make us smile at lovely moments with family and friends, giddy events both big and small.
I look at these two photos taken over the past two weeks. There she is my gorgeous girl whether decked out as a comic book heroine with flames and headset or just chillin’ with a tiny helper when we were shearing the sheep. She is my girl and I’m proud of her.
This week she is doing work experience and spending the week between an artist’s studio in Kilmarnock where she is helping set up an exhibition and at the village primary school helping the art teacher.
Work experience? She is my wee girl. She should still have her hair in bunches and be jumping off hay bales.
Where did the time go?
Time flies doesn’t it…….
