Twas a busy old weekend for me. Idgy is spending the week with Mr X so l have the place to myself. Always seems so suddenly quiet when she isn't here in the evenings.
Anyway l certainly kept busy these past couple of days.
There was a Mums and kids party after school on Friday to mark the start of the holidays. The weather was gorgeous so children bouncing on trampoline and getting pony rides. Mums quaffing wine and eating goodies in the kitchen.
Follow that with a BHS Quiz Night at nearly pub. Our team was called 'Coming up fast on the outside' and consisted of Colette, Simon, Will and me. You should have seen us on the picture round – did any of us have a clue who the dressage rider was photographed half a mile away doing something complicated in the ballet line on a horse, nope that wasn't our forte. Nor was the news round much better for us. There we were hoping for something we might have seen on the BBC, alas no, remember this is a horsey quiz, the news was 'what horse won blah blah at skipidedoo last week in outer Mongolia' and as an extra bonus 'who owns his full brother'. Yes you guessed it, we were not glowing in that round either. However my fixation with cowboys came in handy in the next round when asked what a Mexican cowboy is called. Oh joy a question l could answer, imagine my horror when it came to the answers and l was wrong. Well actually l wasn't wrong at all, and nor was the other lady who had said 'Vaquero' – twas the quizzers who thought an Argentinian Gaucho lived in Mexico. Funny how it is all 'just a bit of fun' when organizers are in the wrong.
On to Saturday and visit Mum to celebrate her 88th birthday. Just lovely to see her and catch up properly. I do wish she lived closer. You feel every moment has to be cherished and treasured. Kept in a little box in your mind and brought out later to ponder, smile or maybe even cry a little.
Don't get me started – onwards to visit Carey at Rustique. She had got me the most amazing threads box for HQ. I am remiss in not having photographed it already for you. Promise l shall do that today.
Stopped on the way home and bought this amazing orchid you see at the top of the page. Just love the colours and pattern. It is being moved around d from room to room so l can enjoy it everywhere.
Sunday – went to a wedding fair at local hotel to see what it was like and if l could show my new wedding line at the next one. Just have to think of a different sort of display.
Plant replacement herbs.
Massive sewing session in the evening. Watched Brideshead Revisited and sewed up 70 hearts.
Fell asleep in front of the fire and woke up in the middle of the night with 2 cats and a ferret on top of me, the tv still on and the fire out.
