Two blogs today, whatever is this woman up to. well actually this will be a busy weekend and I might not get near the computer for a few days, so thought I would share this amazingly wonderful day out with you.
This is a little station in a village called Sabres.
And here is the little train. Now just how cute is that? Can you get more "Thomas the tank engine" than this.
And here of course are "The railway children". Oh no we are on that movie theme thing again!
The train takes you through the huge pine forest, in fact this is the biggest pine forest in Europe.
In a clearing in the centre you come to this Ariel (clearing) where there is a living museum full of the old houses, barns, mills, bakeries and forge where the Landes people lived and worked a century ago. This is Marquez.
This is a real hands on experience, no stuffy glass cases or 'stand back' displays. Come on walk right in and feel at home.
Weaving their own cloth, cooking, milking, all the chores of time gone by.
Ornate beds, high to keep heat with straw filled bases, big curtains for privacy and warmth. No ceilings just roof tiles so the curtained beds were a feature.
Hansel and Gretal houses, so beautiful, they look like they are made form icing sugar and spun for a fairy tail.
The locals are friendly too. Just a lazin' back in the sunshine.
Photos of the past, people with hard lives and much pride.
Signatures in the visitors book. Modern day mingles with the past. Thelma and Louise and Batman and Robin (those in the back seat of the Batmobile.
Lots more photos of this wonderful day, will bore you with them another time.
Have a great weekend.
