This weekend I went with Rosemary up to Pitlochry to see The Enchanted Forest. So many friends had told me about this event and how it was a ‘must see’ at this time of year.
The Enchanted Forrest is a part of the magnificent Perthshire woodland that has been magically lit just for a few weeks of every year.
Strange eerie music plays as you walk through the gardens and watch the lights changing colour and moving amongst the trees and bushes.
Trees so tall they touch the sky. The darkness and the lighting serve to heighten the majesty and magnificence of nature’s finest foliage.
They always say a good movie star depends on a great lighting technician, hmmmmm even nature enjoys a bit of a hand here and there.
The mundane becomes magical at the flick of a switch.
Looking down on another world. Walking along paths lit by fairy lights. Each adult wearing a tiny flashlight pin and children wearing glow bands, just coloured lights bobbing about in the darkness.
Oak leaves picked out against an ink dark sky. We were so lucky with the weather. It poured with rain all the way home, but was dry for our wander around this other world.
There is almost a feeling of being within the realms of ‘Avatar’. Should a six legged horse appear or 12 foot tall green goddess, really you wouldn’t be suprized at all.
A lunar landscape?
Nah, just lichen on the bark of a tree.
Beautiful, breath-taking. Scotland at her best on a Saturday night in October.
