So Easy Christmas FREE On Amazon Kindle Today! And How To Make Herb Garden Vodka Here.

Xmas Promo 1Since Christmas is just around the proverbial corner I thought I’d get you in the mood by doing some FREE promotion days on my Kindle books on Amazon. This one is for So Easy Christmas which was the second book I wrote in 2011.

As many of you know I am a huge fan of Christmas and I wrote this book to try to take some of the angst out of it that so many of us feel. We get that ‘Oh God not again’ feeling of overwhelm the minute the C word is mentioned and panic takes over and all joy and anticipation flies out of the window.

As we get older and have families we tend to fall into the trap of thinking that Christmas is just for children, that we as adults are just there to supply the prezzies, act as taxi drivers for all the parties, be the cheerleaders at the concerts and plays, and generally be the dogsbody that organises it all.

Christmas is for us grown-ups too! That is why I wrote this wee book, to give hints and tips, recipes and ideas to help us tired and hassled adults to enjoy the festive season with just as much gusto as our youngsters.

XmasPromoImagesThe book covers making simple cards and tags and ornaments, including a quirky Santa’s sack Advent Calendar and raggy garlands that cost pennies and look wonderful on your tree or draped around the fireplace.

There is a simple menu for that all important Christmas lunch. Baking ideas including Buche De Noel, an easy Christmas cake and those all important cookies to hang on the tree.

There are drinks both hot and cold, boozy and sweet. Then there are loads of hints and tips on how to cope with house guests and pets (and prezzies for them too), organising your time, and just making the whole thing that much better for all of us, especially YOU!

But my favourite part is of course the foodie gifts, like preserved lemons, sweet tea spoons and this lovely Herb Garden Vodka that I thought I would share with you here.

HerbGardenVodkaThis is incredibly easy to make and tastes a bit like those expensive herbal drinks you can buy in Italy and Spain.

Herb Garden Vodka recipe;

All you need is a 750ml (or a 1 pint) bottle of vodka and a handful each of fresh sage, fennel and thyme (all of which are available in the supermarkets) and the rind of an unwaxed lemon.

Now don’t panic if you can’t find unwaxed lemons, just get a nice big juicy fresh lemon and give it a jolly good scrub in hot water, then rinse thoroughly and dry on kitchen paper, then peel the rind off.

You’ll need a nice wide mouthed jar for this and before you go stuffing in the herbs just take a moment to bash them about a bit to bruise them and release those all important essential oils.

Now stuff them in the jar and add the lemon peel. Pour on the vodka and close the lid.

Now give it a good shake and set aside for 2 weeks shaking it every day to mix in those herba and really get the flavours moving.

After 2 weeks pour through a muslin on paper towel lined sieve to make sure all the solids are held back and decant into some pretty little bottles.

Serve your herb garden vodka ice cold in shot glasses (in fact you can store this in the freezer for best results) or topped with tonic, ice and a slice!
