More snow than we'd thought. The redoubtable Eddie can't get the school bus up the hill. Emma loads her jeep with kids and does the journey.
Phone call – The school is closed. Emma taking Idgy and Isla plus her kids back to their house further up the hill. They can have a 'snow day' and have fun together.
Life goes on in the kitchen. Sewing machine whirrs as pillows pile up. Soap wraps and ribbons are tried and selected. Caffiene levels rise and the radio chatters in the corner.
Phone call – Emma says their lane is completely blocked, Idgy and Isla staying at her place over night. Can hear the kids whooping and cheering in the background. An impromptu sleep over, sheer fun.
Phone call – My brother Colin. Test results are through. He has cancer. We speak volumes without words. He is brave, he always was. My heart is breaking, shattering into pieces too small to collect and stick back together. My mind fills with images of our past. Our shared lives, us.
Time stops – nothing.
and it's still bloody snowing…………
