Woohoo, we survived the Madison! Now the Madison for those of you who don’t know such things (ie me!) is a type of race. Actually it is a cycling race where someone rides the bike and the partner runs on a track running alongside the speed track, they change places throughout the race. All sporty, fitty stuff – eeek not me at all.
Anyway last night Phoebe and donned our trainers and met up with the amazing Stella at her VA runners club in Glasgow. Oh picture the scene if you will. All these fit people in their snug lycra, healthiness personified, skin glowing and eyes bright – then there is us, two firm beleivers in the school of Good Living (food and wine class of 2011!), hmmmmm maybe not quite cut out for all this jigging about.
I digress, back to the dreaded Madison. We did it as a run (no bikes involved) and were partnered by the top runners in the club. We all did our bit going round that track for what seemed like hours. sweat lashing, heart pounding, lots and lots of swearing.
But you know what, we did it, we pair of unfit girlies did it. Proudest moment for Phoebe – fast recovery from the fast bits, getting the breath back and being able to carry on. Proudest bit for me – being able to push faster and harder when the guys shouted my name and urged me on.
Hey guys WE CAN DO THIS!
