Wow, l just have to say a huge THANKS to everyone who has posted a comment, emailed direct and phoned me today regarding the Country Living article. As yet l haven’t seen it (tho thanks to Jane l have seen that photo of me by the sewing machine on her blog at snapdragon) but will dutifully trot off to the shops in the village as soon as it becomes available.
It really is lovely to hear from people and have to many nice things said. A bit like being given lots of gorgeous little prezzies all at once, in my mind l see these comments as little tiny pretty gift boxes wrapped with gorgeous ribbons and filling a glass jar. As l read each comment/email it is like unwrapping this little gift and feeling joy at every turn. After so many hassles of late this is all so very much appreciated and l can’t thank you guys enough.
Another good thing happened today – my old friend Tracey came to visit (she lives in Mauritius and hasn’t been home for 2 years now) and we spent the most heavenly afternoon sitting in the kitchen eating cake and drinking vast quantities of tea.
I only heard from her last night to say she (and her gorgeous little boy Max) would be visiting today, so it was a bit of a rush this morning whipping up a rather haphazzard cake. I just did a basic (very) sponge and filled it with my good old Very Berry Jam (see blog of a few weeks ago for recipe) plus rather a lot of whipped cream. Well then l just had to top the whole thing off with lots more cream and a load of berries l picked from the garden this morning. Now who was talking about my drastic weight loss – better make this cake a ‘special day’ treat l guess!
Now if you seriously think l had the self control to leave this one little piece of cake on the plate when l was clearing up you are sadly mistaken. When you are on that calorific roll you just gotta go for it!
All in all today has been really rather special, thanks again.

I can think of nothing better than eating cake and sipping tea with a friend! What a wonderful way to spend the day…I might just have to invite a friend over myself – a good excuse to bake a cake, wouldn’t you say? I have to ask, the Country Living magazine, is that the UK version or the US version? I’m going to try ti find it tomorrow – congrats!
