There has been much pinkness about this weekend. I think it is because for the first time in what seems like months (actually over a week, but months sounds so much more dramatic) it stopped raining. Ah the joy, oh the relief. Oh the damn weeds! I spent rather longer than I would have liked plucking unwanted greenery from the ground. But apart from the weeds the garden looks beautiful, all overblown and buxom, like one of those big beautiful ladies in paintings.
The rose bush that climbs up the water pipe at the side of HQ is in full bloom. It’s an old fashioned pale pink rose with the most heavenly scent. Really heady and almost heavy in the late afternoon and evening.
I must have been in pink mode when I went down to the village. I have walked past this door for over a decade and never even noticed the colour and lovely age about it. Me, who spends ages scouring side streets in France for picturesque doors to photograph. Fancy not even noticing this one on my own doorstep!
It has been a stay at home and catch up sort of weekend. Washing, housework, tidying up and chatting to friends and neighbours. Amazing what a bit of decent weather will do. Suddenly you don’t think that the washing is such a drudge after all, and that clear out seems like a better idea in the brighter and warmer light of a dry day.
I’ve been working on the blog again too as you’ll have noticed. Trying out a new title banner and some new side bar images, generally trying for a slightly different look, bit of trial and error to see what suits me best. Would love to know what you think.
So what did you do this weekend? Was it dry and sunny with you? Were you in the pink, I certainly hope you weren’t feeling blue wherever you are.
