Who says Easter has to be yellow and fluffy? Who says it has to be all about chocolate Easter eggs? I’ve gone for a pink theme here with my hard boiled marbled eggs and here is how to make your own marbled Easter eggs.
I thought they made such a different and pretty scene and are so easy to create, oh and it is food colouring I use so it doesn’t effect the taste at all.
Place your chosen eggs in a small pan with cold water and bring to the boil. Bubble away for 10 minutes and then run under cold water to stop getting that greeny black ring round the yolk.
Gently roll the egg on a hard surface like the kitchen table to crack the shell. Don’t press too hard as you don’t want to split it completely, just get crazed cracking all over the entire shell. Roll in different directions to achieve this.
Pop the eggs into a bowl or jug and cover with cold water. Now add a few drops of food colouring and give it a stir to distribute the colour. Leave this overnight.
Next morning pour off the coloured water and gently remove theshells. The eggs inside will have this amazing marbled effect. Pink is beautiful and blue a delight.
Go on give it a try this weekend and have a wonderful Easter.
