Is this an odd photo to bring in the new year? I don't think so. I went for a run this morning and couldn't resist picking these aged coppery beech leaves, a reminder of time past. And I also picked this brand new green and vibrant fern, new life, new beginings. So not really such an odd photo for this first day of January 2011.
Isn't that a great number, so fresh, so new. So full of promise, so full of hope and impending joy.
So what did you all do over the new year? Were you at home with family, chilling out on your own, out whooping it up with friends, or off on a fab holiday break? Go on tell all.
I was with friends at their annual New Year bash. Catching up with folks I haven't seen for ages and meeting some great new people too. Eating far too much and not drinking much at all. Yes, I was determined that I would see in this new year with a smile, sobriety and not a hangover in site.
Today is my day for working on my plans, jotting down notes, seeing goals and building dreams. Looking back on the blog at the end of last year where I ticked off what I'd done the year before and listed hopes for 2010. this was my list for hopes for 2010 and my comments in brackets.
France, France, France (All in all I spent 2 months in France this year and loved every minute of it)
Get into those size ten jeans and not look like a sausage (thrilled to report that size ten is me and no sausage look at all, what joy!
Make business a success and profitable (getting there in completely different ways)
Get published (Yes, yes yes!!! Did it in a roundabout way but got a real publisher in the end)
Be better Mum…… (don't know, that is for Idgy to say, but hey she's still here so can't be all that bad at the Mum stuff really)
Romance (one can but dream…..) (okay still dreaming, but now know what I'm looking for and have forgiven Johnny Depp his total lack of interest and am prepared to move on)
Flat stomach (hmmmmm another dream) (okay another hickup here, let's not dwell on it – move on girl, move on….)
Keep calm (yes, getting there on that score at last)
Learn French (un petit peu)
Keep up the running and improve on it (well had to stop in March for foot ops and wasn't meant to run again till now Jan 2011, but I started again these last few days and am up to 2 miles this morning, so I guess running is on track so far)
A brand new me and a new lifestyle (started with that late in the year, but definately a work in progress)
Be Happy (yes!)
I didn't have things like working on TV listed in my hopes for 2010. That one was a hope, dream and plan in March as I wrote so Easy herbal on the sofa with my feet in plaster. Even then it was a dream just to get on The Hour programme to promote my book, I never for a moment dreamed I could have a regular spot on television. Sometimes the strangest things can happen when you least expect them.
I have a lot to be thankful for from 2010.
So here we are on 1.1.11 and what are my goals for this year
A calm uncluttered mind
Romance (oh yes ever hopeful, the eternal optimist, God loves a trier!)
A fit healthy body
Size ten and TONED!
Financial success (oh yes I have a figure on my Vision Board, I have a goal)
More TV work
Another book deal
Writing for newspapers and magazines
Teaching courses/doing demos on herbs and crafting
Be a good Mum (gotta keep trying)
Oh and all sorts of fabulous things that could just pop up out of the woodwork and make life great.
So come on guys, what are your hope and dreams, plans and wishes for this fabulous new year. Tell all and put those hope out there ready to make them happen.
Thanks for being with me throughout 2010, i've loved having you all along with me through the thick and thin of everyday life. Hope you'll stay with me and come along for the ride in 2011.
Here's to us, all of us, and a WONDERFUL 2011.
