Ah horses, they are everywhere round these parts. In stables, in fields, lurking round every corner. There are competition horses, casual pets, knackered old faithfuls, unmanagable handfuls and best friends.
But there is one who isn't a horse at all. Meet Donkey.
She belongs to one of my neighbours who runs a livery yard with lots of smart 'real' horses. However Carolyn has had a hankering for a pet donkey for years and years and has suffered much teasing about this lofty ambition.
Well this year in the summer, she heard about a rescue donkey needing a home. Could she get there fast enough? The dust didn't settle before Donkey moved in.
When it came to choosing a name, there really was no choice, it just had to be plain old Donkey.
So now Carolyn has her donkey pet that she has wanted for years, and Donkey has a good and caring home at last. The horses in the field have a slightly different looking new friend who had a distinctly different voice.
Can't wait for snow to fall for the perfect festivy photo.
